High-Latitude Regional Coupled Modeling
In a series of projects funded by the US department of Interior and the National Science Foundation we have developed coupled oceanography-sea ice-biogeochemistry models for high-latitude coastal regions in the Arctic, Bering and Gulf of Alaska coastal areas. The models are used to understand regional climate impacts in sea ice covered areas, high-latitude ecosystems (e.g., Walleye Pollock and Tanner Crab distributions) and conduct studies on the impact of potential oil spills in sensitive areas.
